LAB OVERVIEW

claw-hammer.png

The pursuit of efficient use of finite resources and reducing carbon footprint is righteous for

our society and for the construction engineering discipline.

The construction materials sector including cement and concrete is one that will certainly fulfill these needs.

Cement and concrete materials are representative building materials, while they account for considerable energy and environmental footprint which are often of a serious concern in the light of sustainability. However, a high potential lies ahead for reducing the associated CO₂ emissions and recycling industrial byproducts through our endeavors and cutting edge research, which will ultimately lead us to the construction of a sustainable society. Such needs and potentials have resulted in bringing the advances in our level of knowledge with regard to concrete materials science and engineering.

From these aspects, our interest is development of advanced and sustainable concrete materials and its translation into industrial application. Furthermore, our lab investigates the nature of these materials based on materials science perspectives.

Advanced Constcution Materials Lab at INU focuses on, but not limited to:

• Concrete Engineering and Cement Chemistry
• Sustainable Construction Materials and Structures
• Microstructures of Concrete
• Durability of Concrete
• Materials Science of Inorganic Cementitious Materials
• Nondestructive Methods and Maintenance of Concrete Structures
